Spontaneous formation of life is theorized, but it’s never actually been proven. The origins of life on earth, and the potential for life outside our terran habitat is a hotly-disputed topic, but new research suggests that in the depths of space, life can form without godly intervention.
While the research is yet in its infancy, membrane-like organization of otherwise “normal” elements has begun under simulated space-like conditions. These membrane structures, necessary for life to evolve further, are important as a foundation for evolution theory. While these membranes lack the necessary genetic material to really be “alive”, they may very well be the next step to better understanding how life on earth began, and hint that life in the galaxy is not exclusive to earth alone.
