The great nerd uber-dream, Linux, suffered a major setback. The by-nerds, for-nerds operating system has been trying to work it’s way into the mainstream consumer market, but has always been shrugged off by many for it’s percieved difficulty to use and lack of hand-holding.

Serious Gamers have been Window users out of necessity, but Loki Games tried to change that by porting popular titles (Quake 3, Unreal Tournament, Deus Ex, Alpha Centauri, etc.) to Linux. Their products were often very good, and got rave reviews from the Linux crowds, but it seems their management was horrible.

linuxandmain.com is is reporting that Loki Games has declared bankruptcy, and owes many of it’s employees thousands of dollars, over $300,000 in one case. Even worse, the ex-employees may be stuck paying the taxes on the money the company owes creditors, while the CEO made away rich.
