Shakespeare returns.

I always found it rather amusing when bands “released” material well after they split up, or even died. Particularly, I’m thinking of such well-knowns as the Beatles or Tupac, to give you an idea of just how broad the range is of artists known to have “lost” material trickle into the future.

This time around, it’s not Calloway’s lost 2002 remix of I Wanna Be Rich that’s suddenly seeing distribution (thank God), but work by ole’ man Shakespeare hisself. In his 38th play (39th if you include his collaborative piece Two Noble Kinmen), Shakespeare tackled another Monarch, this time Edward III, unsurprisingly also serving as the play’s title.

Staged for the first time by the Royal Shakespeare Company, this prequel to Richard II has actually been in print since 1596, but has never been staged as a full production.

So, how long until Hollywood rewrites it, casts Matt Damon as a jive-speakin’ King Edward III, and sets it in future-day Harlem?
