Australians are convicts.

Is it me, or is it somewhat ironic that a nation founded as a penal colony is now being subjected to law proposals that will take away people’s rights, as though they were criminals?

Anyway, a new proposal, if passed, could allow authorities in Australia to invade private communications without a warrant. I’m not too familiar with Australian law in regards to privacy, but laws concerning privacy overseas could very well influence domestic lawmakers, so the issue is of some conern, especially since Australia has a fairly prominent online presence.
