Controlling the weather.

Wasn’t it Sean Connery who wasted his time in that Avengers movie? Well, imagine the opposite: there’s no Sean Connery, we’re not wasting our time, and there are no leather-clad vixens fighting crime. The latter, of course, almost brings me to tears, but let’s discuss the weather instead, shall we?

It appears that controlling the weather is not only possible, but that progress has already been made to do so. Scientists from MIT are working on crushing hurricanes, and the US military may use weather-altering technologies to aid in raids and defense.

While the trickle-down effects of military applications that can alter the weather could help people in the long run, by bringing rain upon drought-infected areas, and by killing dangerous weather conditions that could have adverse effects on population centers, some people don’t like what’s going on, citing conspiracy-like accusations of military experimentation on the populace.

Whether or not you like the idea of man playing God with the weather, you have to realize that it’d come eventually, whether or not the US heads the experimentation. Ideally, however, US citizens would be informed of local experimentation, especially if it could raise health concerns.
