The man can’t keep us down forever.

As our regular viewers know, the site went down sometime between Thursday night and Friday morning. The problem had to do with our domain registrar, VeriSign, playing Domain Nazi. Back in July, we decided to transfer the domain service to GoDaddy, whose yearly domain registration price was one fifth of what VeriSign charged. It doesn’t take a Financial Advisor to know that GoDaddy has the much better deal.

However, VeriSign, being a monopolistic dog, refused to let the domain transfer go through, and shut off our domain service the day I got back from vacation, without any warning whatsoever.

To get the domain name service back up, I was forced to renew my yearly contract with VeriSign, else the site would have been down for another week at minimum, with a more realistic estimate of three weeks more, since VeriSign refuses to make it easy for customers to change registrant information.

In any case, despite the fact that I still want to punch everyone who works for VeriSign in the mouth, things are back to normal.
