PSP homebrew evolution.
Admittedly, my PSP is collecting dust. I’m not one for sitting around and playing a portable system on a daily basis, so my purchase was instead aimed at occupying my time when traveling, and in this regard, the PSP has wonderfully made time on an airplane go by seamlessly.
That said, a recent look at the PSP homebrew scene for the PSP deserves mention, because of very cool things such as UMD emulation under 2.6 nearly becoming a possibility. The homebrew gaming scene is kicking as well, with such interesting games that redefine wardriving. And, with two PSPs in one’s ride, one can even view maps and navigate via GPS with hardware costs just over $100.
Though Sony’s other products of late fail to impress, their little portable console still has some gas left, despite Nintendo’s hold on the mobile gaming front. So long as PSP firmware remains hackable to allow for homebrew, it’s a device worth keeping around for, even if that’s only for the occassional plane ride.
