Crawling over rocks, or stranded soccer moms.
When Fallout-stye nuclear devastation besets the world, else attacks from twisted Martian warmongers makes highway navigation nigh impossible thanks to looting and killing in the roadways, it will be Mad Max-style off-roading that grants a prolonged life to those fortunate enough to possess adequate vehicles. This is why Toyota’s FJ Cruiser holds a special place in my heart, for not only is it a real SUV able to drive over rocks, but it holds more post-Apocalyptic survival gear than the lightweight champion of the offroad arena, the Jeep Wrangler.
The FJ Cruiser also sports more style, despite the fact that the rear lights reek a little too much of rice, like someone wanted desperately to put a wing on the thing but nonetheless got away with some space-age flair. The vehicle, perhaps not fuel-efficient like the hybrid swarm in the horizon, is still trendy, thanks to its retro-look and modern features. And now, a new special edition package sports a black roof, unlike every FJ Cruiser currently out there with white roofs.
Only 3200 of these vehicles will be made, sporting fancy TRD (Toyota Racing Deveopment) decals, “more airbags”, and a mandatory 5-speed “quickshifter” manual transmission. And, for night-time operations, all 3200 of these beasts will come in black. Since these special edition FJs are coming out in November, start saving your pennies. Not like they’ll be good after the collapse of civilization anyway.
