Nokia immune to shock therapy.

Like a retarded mongrel wearing a shock collar, Nokia runs past the electrical fence of the mobile phone yard and tries to get a piece of the handheld gaming market flying down the road. Really, it hasn’t been that long since Nokia retired it’s silly goal of competing with Nintendo, but apparently not too soon for them to throw away more money on an inevitable flop. With only two signed developers and what is likely a long road ahead for getting Electronics Boutique to give up floorspace to another sad Nokia product, who in their right mind signed off on an N-Gage sequel?

If mobile phone companies have paid any attention, they’d see that the mobile gaming market is niche at best in the United States. These games are time-wasters like Solitaire and Minesweeper, not hobbyist wet-dreams like the games available on the Nintendo DS or Sony PSP. Even the mp3 phone market is still rather stale, with the upcoming iPhone being the Braveheart that could unite the cell phone and mp3 clans. Mayhaps the iPhone, leveraging the iPod gaming foundation, can push gaming into the mix, but even this is questionable.
