It was good news that Guitar Hero 3 (GH3) was shipping for both Windows and OS X, and this fact prompted us to pick up a copy of the OS X version as a Christmas gift for Bones Wiley, who’s stuck in Europe without an Internet connection. We thought that GH3 would keep him busy enough to forget that he can’t play World of Warcraft (WoW) until he returns State-side, as well as prepare him for joining our Rock Band band.
Unfortunately, a quick look at the GH3 page over at Apple’s site revealed the following:
[GH3] does not support Intel integrated video chipsets.
Guess this means that Bones Wiley is out of luck, and won’t be able to play GH3 after all. Why this development decision was made is anyone’s guess, but we find it a bit ridiculous that MacBooks can run WoW but not GH3, which is a much less demanding game on system resources, let alone one’s video card. So, did Aspyr drop the ball, or Neversoft? Whoever it is, shame on you. No GH3 on anything but machines aimed at professionals is a plain dumb move.
