And don’t say it’s the “Dire Bear,” because that’s lame. In previous World of Warcraft (WoW) patches, we’ve seen talents give us Moonkin form for the Balance tree, and Tree of Life form for the Restoration tree, and yet the Feral tree is looking pretty sad without an “advanced” form.
What we should see is a form that takes advantage of existing feral talents, and a logical example hearkens back to the Druid concept from Diablo 2: the werewolf. Give feral druids an opportunity to further increase their damage in the form (no pun intended) of a new creature, even if such a change doesn’t materialize until the next WoW expansion. Make the werewolf form the new top-tier talent in the Feral tree, and allow it to utilize a combination of buffed cat and bear abilities. Make it less tank-able than the bear, but with more health and armor (mail-comparable) than the cat. Don’t give it utility abilities like stealth and tracking, but do give it limited taunting for off-tanking.
The Feral tree has become a very solid choice for Druids, and is arguably the most effective tree since it allows full use of a Druid’s tricks since mana isn’t depleted while in Feral form, making Feral Druids a successful safety net for PvE and PvP. Nonetheless, it’s time Feral Druids received some aesthetic lovin’ with a top-tier shapeshift talent just like the Balance and Restoration trees have had for some time now.
