The Sidekick: too little, too late?

by WyldKard on February 22, 2009

Porn stars love sidekicks. We loved our Sidekick when we got it, but there were definite shortcomings that made the the more appealing platform in the end. Still, the Sidekick could have gained a much more sizeable market share if they hadn’t locked the platform down, made developing for it easier, and if they didn’t limit the options available on their carrier-controlled app-stores.

Compared to the , even the upcoming Sidekick looks clunky, but the features it packs out-of-box are pretty snazzy:

  • Facebook
  • mySpace w/video upload.
  • Twitter
  • YouTube
  • GPS w/turn-by-turn directions
  • Built-in blog editor
  • Photobucket access
  • Video recorder
  • MS Outlook/Exchange synchronization
  • 3.2 megapixel camera w/flash
  • Expandable memory via MicroSD card

Not only are these features snazzy, but there are a number of them we wouldn’t mind seeing on the , particularly the better camera w/flash. While surely has nothing to fear from a the Sidekick unless Danger really refreshes the line ala the Palm Pre, they really should take notice of what otherwise inferior are offering.
